About CAN Advisory

An advisor for the decisions that come after success.

Working Earlier Than Legal Advice

Most legal advice arrives after a decision has already been made: reviewing a contract, defending a position, or cleaning up a structure that grew informally over time.

CAN Advisory works earlier than that. CAN was built on a simple observation: successful people rarely need someone simply to tell them what to do. They need someone they trust to help them think clearly about what they are about to do, understand the implications, and make decisions that are properly structured from the outset.

CAN brings strategic judgment, governance expertise and legal knowledge together with a practical understanding of how businesses, families, assets and institutions actually operate.

The Person Behind CAN

CAN Advisory is led by Catherine Ama Nartey, a Ghanaian lawyer, strategic advisor, governance professional and child rights advocate.

Catherine brings more than two decades of experience across senior corporate and operational roles, including consulting, human resources, operations, learning and development and product management. Her legal practice builds on that practical experience rather than sitting apart from it.

Her work sits at the intersection of law, strategy, governance and legacy. She advises successful individuals, families and business owners on significant decisions involving businesses, assets, ownership, governance, Trusts, succession and the transfer of wealth to the next generation.

She has particular experience and interest in Trusts, estates, family governance and succession planning and is affiliated with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She also has a longstanding commitment to social justice and the protection and advancement of children's rights through her work as a child rights advocate and her work with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ghana.

“Good advice should come early enough to influence the decision, not merely explain the consequences afterwards.”
